The Wilmington Riverfront Farmers Market

The Wilmington Riverfront Farmers Market is a unique, interactive experience that takes place every Saturday morning from May through October on the Wilmington Riverfront. The market features local farmers, artisans and food vendors who sell fresh produce, meat, cheese, breads and other items from their businesses. There is also live music and activities for children. Parking is available adjacent to the market on New Bern Avenue.

The building that now houses the Cape Fear Museum of Art was originally built as a textile mill in 1892. In 1984, the building was acquired by the City of Wilmington and it opened as a museum three years later. The original collection consisted of paintings, sculptures, prints and other artifacts from local museums and art galleries. In 2002, an addition was made to the museum which doubled its size and allowed for more contemporary exhibitions to be hosted.

 

The Cape Fear Museum of Art is open Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Admission is free for members and guests with active military ID, as well as for children 12 years old and younger when accompanied by an adult. Group rates are available for parties of 10 or more people; admission is only $6 per person for adults and $4 per child.
